How to Change Your Life with Your Thoughts and Beliefs

Beliefs

If your life is not as joyful as you would like it to be, it is because your thoughts and beliefs are not aligned with your desires and passions. They are not in alignment with who you were crated to be.

Did you know that you can deliberately create the reality you want using your thoughts and beliefs?  You can change your life by changing the story you are telling about your life. Change the thoughts you think and it will change your reality. Your beliefs about your reality will change.

Here are 4 tips that can help you do that:

Step 1: Use affirmations correctly

Affirmations don’t really work for people in the ways that have been taught to them, because when you have a belief like: “I’m not good enough” that has been backed up by years of proof, when you say “I’m good enough” it contradicts your own intelligence, it sounds like a lie. It makes you more aware of where you aren’t rather than closing the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

So we need to back up a little bit and be incremental. We need to place stepping stones on our road to closing the gap between where we are and where we want to be.

Here is an example: If you hold the belief that: “I am not good enough,” just saying “I am good enough” won’t work, but if you start looking for small evidences that you are good enough you can start bridging the gap.

Step 2: Come up with things you actually do believe which are on the way to the belief that “I am good enough.”

Here is an example: Instead of thinking “I’m not good enough,” think: “I am a deep thinker,” or “I am an inspirational speaker,” or “I have valuable things to share with people.” That can be a mental step toward “I am good enough.”

Those are the types of thoughts you want to be using as affirmations.

Practice beliefs (incrementally) that are closer and closer to the vibration of “I am good enough.” Pretty soon that gap will be closed and you will believe it.

Step 3: Try this experiment

Choose something that you have no emotional attachment to and spend 10 minutes a day focusing on it and visualizing it. Don’t choose something you care a lot about because if you are emotionally attached or you are desperate for this thing to manifest you will experience resistance.

For example: you could choose horses or butterflies or whatever, as long as you really aren’t attached to it at all. If for example you choose horses, then set your alarm for 10 minutes and start visualizing riding them, feeding them, stroking their manes etc. Try to visualize in a way that involves your senses (smell it, taste it, feel it). Loose yourself completely in the experience until the timer goes off. Keep this up for at least a week and you will soon find that the thing that you chose to focus on is showing up in your life in amazing ways – on bumper stickers, movies, articles etc. You will be amazed at how this will help you gain the belief that what you focus on becomes a part of your reality. Once you gain a belief in this principle you can begin to use it for other things more relevant to your desires.

Step 4: Look for new evidence of your new belief. The brain is like a scientist and you can send it out on a scavenger hunt for new proof. Once you focus on the proof – more proofs will appear. It will snowball into your experience until you are sitting in an entirely different reality.

I hope you will experiment with these 4 tips and as always I am interested in your insights and experiences.

How to Experience Inspiration and True Success!

7 Principles

I know a young man who really didn’t like school, and although he was one of the most intelligent young men I knew, he underachieved. Not only did he not like school he also didn’t seem motivated to work at menial jobs

When he got to college he eventually dropped out. His parents and teachers were concerned about his apparent laziness and lack of motivation, but the reality was that nothing they were presenting to him aligned with who he was created to be.

A few years later I observed him connect with his purpose and passion. I saw the lights go on as he aligned with what truly inspired him. I saw him work harder than other young men his age as he built a business around his innate abilities and interests. Because he was inspired, it was not work to him, it was play – it was his purpose and passion!

I observed as he spent almost every spare moment engaged in “self-education.” He thirsted for the knowledge that pertained to his new venture. He was inspired and he was taking inspired action in a massive way.

The key here is that he began taking action that he felt inspired to take, not just doing what others told him he “should” do.

“When we’re inspired we’re connected to this force that’s greater in every respect that our physical being. It was in-spirit that our purpose was laid out and its in-spirit where our magnificence is absolute and irrefutable. Before merging into form, we were a part of God, with all the inherent qualities of a Creator who sends forth abundance, creativity, love, peace, joy and well-being.” (Dyer, Inspiration, 7)

1. Your thoughts and emotions are more powerful than your actions

When you align with Divine Purpose you are led to the right actions. Inspiration is the result of your connection to Divine Purpose.

Once you understand the importance of a clear, un-corroded connection to your Source, you are going to begin experiencing inspired thoughts and feelings. When you are inspired you’ve established resonance with divine energy. Knowing that thoughts are things made up of vibrational energy, we can now see that inspired thoughts are especially powerful things, because they flow from our Source and put us on a path of divine intention.

Inspiration is Divine Purpose revealing itself to you. The word inspiration comes from two words, “In” and “spirit.” Living an inspired life is living in harmony, or, in oneness, with the divine source from which you originated. We could call it “spiritual mindedness.” As you seek to live an inspired life you begin to see yourself aligning with your Divine Purpose.

Napoleon Hill said: “An intangible impulse of thought can be transmuted into its physical counterpart by the application of known principles.” (Hill, Think and Grown Rich, 11)

Anyone who has done work of a creative nature knows the feeling of being inspired. It is an incredible experience when ideas just seem to flow. It’s like a faucet has suddenly been turned on. Inspired thoughts and ideas begin streaming into your mind as they did for George Frederick Handle when he composed the Messiah. Sometimes the ideas flow so quickly it is difficult to even write them down, but you know you have to take action.

2, Don’t try harder!

As children, most of us were taught: “Apply yourself; just try harder,” but if we need to try harder at something it means we are experiencing dissonance. This is why “principle one” comes first – you must follow the path that resonates for you. Trying harder sends a message to subconscious mind that you are lacking.

Trying harder interrupts the power of visualization. Once you have seen the thing you desire and experienced it with powerful emotion, it is no just longer something you will have in the future, but something you know is already yours.

Once you have the clear picture, your subconscious receives the plan and inspired action naturally follows. You innately know when the signal of your divine purpose is resonating with your Divine source. (This is why Principles 3 and 4 come before 5 and 6).

Remember, the “inner victory” always comes first! The harder you try, the less inspiration will flow and the less you’ll be aligned with your Divine Purpose!

If your actions are not inspired don’t take them! The harder you have to try, the less you will experience True Success!

3. Take Inspired Action

“Inspired action” is the universe’s way of alerting you to an opportunity to create an outcome that is meant for you. When you consistently focus on certain outcomes that are aligned with your purpose, like having more abundance, having your dream career, having a successful business and so on, you start drawing forth all of the resources, people, and opportunities that can help you make those outcomes a physical reality. And many of those resources show up in the form of inspired ideas, or inspired “actions” that you can take.

Many personal development programs solely on taking massive action, and of course without action there can be no results. We cannot reap, unless we sow, but if we’re frantically sowing the wrong seeds we will not reap the desired harvest. True Success happens when we take actions that are inspired by our Divine Purpose.

When our thoughts and feelings are vibrating in a low, uncomfortable, negative place, we are not open to receive inspired ideas. We are only open to receive problems, challenges, and negativity.

By working consistently on raising our frequency we become aligned with wonderful outcomes! And when we align with wonderful outcomes, we receive inspired ideas that help make those outcomes our reality.

When we are inspired by our Divine Purpose all of our thoughts break their bonds, our mind transcends limitations, our consciousness expands in every direction and we find ourselves in a new world. Dormant forces come alive and we find ourselves being far greater than we’ve ever dreamed.

When we’re inspired we’re in a state of absolute faith – an inner knowing that it’s impossible to fail, a complete absence of doubt. We’re incapable of thinking limited thoughts. We go beyond the world of boundaries to a place of creative knowing. We are under the guidance of Divine Purpose.

How to Ignite the Law of Attraction with Gratitude!

law of attraction - jack canfield

Jack Canfild teaches that if you want to live the Law of Attraction, appreciation should be incorporated into your daily living.

Appreciation is the oxygen that breathes life into the three-step Law of Attraction process. It turns the spark of your desire into a full-blown flame that effortlessly attracts the things you want like moths to a candle.

Three Steps to Attract What You Want

The first step of the Law of Attraction is quick and easy: Ask.  As soon as you become aware of a desire, announce it to the universe. State your intention out loud, write it down, post a picture of what you want on a vision board, or simply think, “I want that!”

The next step is Believe. Believe that you can have the thing you want, and then release your desire to the universe. Trust that you’ll receive what you want or something better. Either way, the decision is in the universe’s hands. Detachment from the outcome occurs when you have total faith that the universe will give you exactly what is perfect for you right here, right now.

Affirmations are used to remove doubt about whether you’ll get or you deserve what you want. An affirmation describes your goal as already complete. It affirms what you want vs. what you don’t want. It also captures how you feel when celebrating your goal. This allows you to feel the actual feelings you’ll experience upon achieving your goal. For example, “I am feeling light and alive at my perfect body weight of one thirty-five.

Appreciation works its magic during the final step – Receive. Appreciation is one of the highest emotional states you can be in. It is the state of abundance. The Law of Attraction states that like attracts like. If you are grateful for what you have already received, you will attract more for which you can be grateful.

Think for a moment about your own experience with holiday gift giving. When relatives show sincere pleasure and appreciation for the gifts you give, no matter how simple, you want to shower them with even more. Gift giving becomes a delight for you as much as for the recipients. Contrast this with people who don’t acknowledge your presents or who dismiss them as not big enough, impressive enough, or “right” enough. Giving gifts to these individuals becomes an obligation. You don’t spend hours searching for the perfect gift. You settle for an item that’s adequate.

The universe operates in a similar way. Its best gifts go to individuals who vibrate at the highest levels of appreciation for the gifts they’ve already received.

To create the vibrational match with what you want, live in the feeling space of already possessing the things you want. Appreciate what you already have, and you’ll be vibrating in the same state of gratitude you’ll be in when the universe delivers what you want.

Appreciate the Smallest Blessings

Activate your gratitude by acknowledging the gifts most people take for granted.

If you have food in your refrigerator (meaning that you have electricity), clothes in your closet and a roof over your head, you are better off than 75 percent of the world’s population. If you eat three meals a day, you are far better off than the 1 billion people on the planet who eat once a day at most. Celebrate these simple blessings.

Do you have a phone? Be grateful – millions don’t. How about a car that allows you to travel to work or to explore the country? Is your family healthy? Do you have a computer and Internet access to stay in touch with the world, get access to education, and perform work for which you are paid? Do you have clean water to drink? These daily conveniences are gifts that most people in the world do not enjoy.

Daily Appreciation Habits

Here are five easy ways to make appreciation part of your daily routine:

Take 7 minutes each morning to write down all you appreciate. Starting your day this way primes you to be receptive and grateful for everything your day will bring.

Carry a physical token of gratitude in your pocket, such as a stone, crystal or some other small item. As you reach into your pocket throughout the day and feel the token, use it as a reminder to stop, breathe and take a moment to fully experience the emotion of gratitude.

Appreciate at least 3 people every day. Most people enjoy receiving verbal appreciation. But written notes are also nice because they can be saved and re-read. (For ideas on expressing uncommon appreciation, click here.)

Play the Appreciation Game. As the saying goes, “Every cloud has a silver lining.” Look for the good in all situations. When my wife was in a car accident a few years ago, she could have chosen to berate herself or question her judgment. Instead, she focused on her gratitude for suffering only minor injuries and for the help she received from other drivers.

Appreciate yourself. We all need acknowledgement, but the most important acknowledgement is what we give ourselves. In addition to celebrating your big successes, acknowledge your small daily successes, too. During my annual Breakthrough to Success training, I assign the Mirror Exercise as homework because your subconscious mind needs positive encouragement to pursue further achievements and to change any negative beliefs you hold toward praise and accomplishment. This powerful exercise requires you to appreciate yourself for the day’s accomplishments while talking to yourself in a mirror. For more detailed instructions and guidance for the Mirror Exercise, see page 199-201 of The Success Principles.

Appreciation Is Not Human Nature

Many people find that it requires great diligence to cultivate an attitude of appreciation. We are culturally conditioned to focus on what we don’t have, rather than appreciating what we’ve already received.

Decades ago, the University of Chicago conducted a fascinating study into appreciation. Researchers took soldiers who had recently returned from the World War II Pacific Theater and housed them in Quonset huts on campus. At first, the men were delighted with their housing, because they were ecstatic to be off the battlefield. After about 30 days, however, they started to complain about their Quonset huts. Rather than being grateful for a simple, yet safe, place to live, they began to focus on what they didn’t have. They became dissatisfied with not having more comfortable quarters.

It may not feel natural at first to focus on appreciating what you already have. But by faithfully using the appreciation exercises outlined in this article, you’ll change your conditioning. Giving thanks will become more than an occasional exercise. It will become a daily discipline that allows you to vibrate in more of what you want from life.

How to Change Limiting Beliefs

anxiety

Do you currently have a glass ceiling over your level of success? If so, there are obstacles deep inside you that are holding you back. These obstacles are limiting beliefs. These beliefs are acting as opposing intentions that block your dreams from manifesting.

First, let’s get clear about what limiting beliefs really are. A limiting belief is a self-created “truth” that prevents you from following your dreams and manifesting your deepest desires. In other words, it’s an obstacle that stands between you and your Divine Purpose.

The important thing to remember is that limiting beliefs are “self-created”? They are! The seeds for some of your limiting beliefs might have been planted in your mind by other people, but you ultimately nurtured them and allowed them to blossom in your life, even if you did it subconsciously.

Whether they originated from your own negative thoughts, or from someone else’s influence, they amount to the same thing: they are inner obstacles that will hold you back from the life you are intended for.

Remember how the Law of Attraction works!  You think, you feel, you attract.

A belief is nothing more than a thought you have focused on and reinforced dozens and dozens of times – so it eventually becomes your “truth”. Your beliefs influence your thoughts; your thoughts trigger your emotions, and your emotions broadcast your vibrational frequency!

Here are some tips that might help:

1. Awareness – identify limiting beliefs

Before you can change your limiting beliefs, you need to know what they are. But the trouble with most limiting beliefs is that they are subconscious. You rarely, if ever, think about them consciously, but they run silently in the background, influencing your thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Here is an exercise that will help you identify some of your limiting beliefs. On a piece of paper, write the words: “I would like to _____________ (write in the thing that you most desire).  At the end of that statement, write the word, “but.” Then insert the reasons why it can’t be done.

Here is an example. “I would like to write a book, but I’m not famous enough for people to want to buy it.

Continue to write out a list of all the things that come to mind.

  • No one would want to read anything I wrote.
  • It would be way too hard!
  • I’m not knowledgeable enough to do that
  • I’m not an expert.
  • I don’t know where to start.

2. Meditation

The best way to change limiting beliefs is to use meditation. In a meditative state your subconscious mind is open to suggestions and affirmations. With repetition meditation can assist you in re-writing your subconscious blueprint.

Remember that a belief is nothing more than a self-created “truth” – a thought that you have continued to focus on and reinforce, sometimes for years.

But it won’t take years to clear your limiting beliefs. If you’re very consistent with your efforts, you can change a limiting belief in days – maybe a few weeks for extremely strong beliefs.

3. Reframing

Ronald Reagan was a master re-framer. Once, when he was accused by his opponent of being too old to run for president, he reframed their accusation by saying: “Oh, that’s just their youth and inexperience talking. We won’t hold it against them.” He had a natural ability to turn things around and put a new positive energy to them.

Have you ever noticed how different the world looks from the window of an airplane at 23,000 feet? The vantage point from which we see things has a great effect on what we believe, think and feel about things. If we are only seeing things from a vantage point of looking up at our huge pile of problems, we are seeing limited options, and we are going to feel discouraged. Remember, the language the Universe understands is the language of emotion. Emotions are the vibrational signal we send and that is what gets mirrored back into our lives. What if we could see our situation from 23,000 feet instead of from deep inside our pile of problems?

Words like: “What if______?” and “How can I______?” are used to form reframing question.  They open the Reticular Activating System in our brains to new possibilities.

I would love to hear your thoughts and comments!

How to use Imagination to Connect to Abundance

abundance 3

One of the greatest truths I’ve ever learned is that our outer-world is a perfect reflection of our inner-world. If you are not experiencing abundance in your outer world it is because there is inner work that needs to be done first.

If you want more financial abundance in your life it won’t happen by learing some new money-making technique. If that were true you would already have the financial abundance you want.

Changing our inner-world begins with the power of our imagination. The human mind has powerful God-given creative powers.  Here are 4 steps that will help you unleash the mental power to align with greater abundance.

Step one: Ask yourself, “If I made $___________ a year what would I enjoy doing? What would I wear? Where would I live? Write down your answers to these questions in as much detail as you possibly can.

Step two: Write a new script and rehearse it mentally. Read it! Feel it! Pretend you are a famous actor and you are getting paid $10 million dollars to play the part. The brain makes repetition real!

Step three: Ask yourself, “What would I have to believe about myself for this to be true?” Write down all the beliefs you will need to adopt.

Step Four: Ask yourself, “What can I offer to others?” This is where you look at your innate gifts and talents – your Divine Purpose, and follow your passion. Write down things you are deeply passionate about and how you can use your unique gifts to offer something to others.

Your subconscious mind has the  capacity to connect you to unlimited abundance if you align with it through the power of your imagination!

How to Help Your Kids Find True Success and Purpose!

kids

Every child is unique and children have an innate gift of knowing what they are good at and what they love doing. Children are also very tuned-in to the God-given creative power of their imagination. It isn’t until their parents, teachers and society begin to tell them otherwise that they become disconnected from their dreams and passions.  Our dreams and passions were given to us as signs to guide us to our Divine Purpose. We are all created to do what we love. Unfortunately we aren’t taught that in our society.

I love this quote: “Everyone has a purpose in life . . . a unique gift or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of goals.” – Deepak Chopra

As a child, I knew exactly what brought me joy! It was playing baseball. The game was magical to me. I loved everything about it: the uniforms, the equipment, even the dimension of the field. I loved the strategy of each pitch. I love to watch the Major League players who had become my heroes for their amazing ability to play this magical game.

When I wasn’t playing baseball I was day-dreaming about baseball, reading books and articles about baseball. I would walk with my friends to 7-Eleven to buy baseball cards and baseball trading cups. I would buy baseball magazines so I could cut out the pictures and put them up on my bedroom wall.

Baseball resonated with me and there was a magical, joyful feeling that flowed through me when I played it. I knew I was born to play baseball.

No one ever had to motivate me to play baseball! My desire to play flowed as effortlessly as breathing. When I was playing baseball it was as if time didn’t exist, I never checked the time to see when I needed to quit. It required no effort, no hard work and there was no pressure, no stress, just pure joy!

Now as an adult, I get that same joy from writing. but I had to rediscover my purpose and passion after having been disconnected from it for many years. Unfortunately this is the case for many adults today. They are making a live, but not living!

Here are some tips to help you encourage your children toward their Life’s Purpose:

  1. Never discourage them from following their dreams and passions! True success is a feeling of being fulfilled, knowing that your life has purpose and meaning.
  2. Never force your own dreams upon your children! “People suffer when they pursue a life or chase a dream that doesn’t belong to them” – Carolyn May
  3. Don’t expect them to follow the path that society says they should travel! Their path may be very unique.
  4. Allow them to use their imaginations! Never discourage them from day dreaming. It is the greatest God-given gift they have inherited. It is the power by which all things are created. It will assist them in creating the life of their dreams.
  5. Learn the 11 myths that parents have been teaching their children, that keep them from True Success and Divine Purpose! Get the  FREE report here: http://bit.ly/UASoU4
  6. Be careful of every word your say to children under 8 years old. This is when their subconscious blueprint is being set up and the beliefs stored there can affect them the rest of their lives.
